The Word dwells among us

Dear brothers and sisters!

It is again Christmas. The four weeks of Advent have been an opportunity to prepare ourselves more consciously for the greatest birthday of all human history. This is because the one whose birthday we celebrate is fully divine and fully human. In fact, this invites us to contemplate what we celebrate at Chrsitmas: namely, the incarnation (becoming human) of Christ. God loved the world so much that He sent His only Son into the world, not to judge but to save the world (see John 3,16).

This summarizes the mission of Christ in the world. God comes so close to the human being in order to rebuild and restore humanity to ist original greatness. We have been calling on the Lord to come to us. This call has reminded us our our perennial state of non-fulfillment. He is born through whom all creation came to be (Joh 1,3 and Col 1, 16). We have an opportunity to lay bare our hearts and allow the divine word to dwell in us. This will see us all on a journey that will lead us to complete renewal. Our Father and Founder St. Daniel Comboni is believed to have said: „Where the gospel is planted, hearts are transformed“. It is Christ that is being planted (born) in our hearts, in our families and communities. Being born in human fraility, Jesus shares in the fullness of the human experience. Let us not be afraid to allow Him be born there where we feel shame due to our human limitations. He was born in the filthiest of all the places, because there was no space for Him in the inns. May our celebration of His birth be an opportunity for us to experience His transformative and recreative presence. He is ready to start afresh with us. During the celebration of our golden jubilee as a parish, we were guided by the theme: „journeying with Chrsit“. This is the redemptive journey which Christ wants to make with us. Let us, then, journey with Him from His Childhood to the Cross. We have no other journey that will lead us to more authentic christian life as a community. The Word dwells among us. Yes. But is would even be better if it grows in us and bring christ-like fruits like solidarity and concern for the weak ones.

I wish you all a Christ-filled Christmas!
